Two adult practitioners rolling and practicing positional grappling techniques during structured BJJ classes in Brisbane.

Kids 4 to 5: Foundation movement, listening skills and basic discipline in a fun, confidence-building class that introduces jiu jitsu in a safe and nurturing environment. The focus is body awareness, basic grappling movements and comfort on the mats.

Kids 6 to 8: Core positional knowledge, controlled sparring and problem-solving under pressure. Students begin building technical understanding and personal responsibility and start to grasp cause and effect within technique.

Kids 9 to 14: Technical refinement, tactical thinking and leadership within the academy. Students take greater ownership of their progress, support younger peers and develop emotional control in competitive and non-competitive settings.

Adults: A structured technical curriculum from beginner to advanced, with progressive sparring, fitness and mobility, optional competition pathways and a culture-first environment.

Competition Class: For members preparing to compete - ruleset specifics, focused drilling and positional rolls.

Gi classes: Gi Jiu-Jitsu is practiced wearing a traditional martial arts uniform (the gi), which consists of a heavy cotton jacket, reinforced pants and a belt indicating rank. In this style, players are legally allowed to grab their opponent's clothing to control their movement, apply leverage and execute submissions. The fabric creates significant friction, resulting in a highly methodical, technical and strategic chess match.

No Gi classes: No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu is practiced without the traditional uniform. Instead, practitioners wear a rash guard and shorts or spats. Because grabbing clothing is strictly prohibited, players must rely on natural anatomical grips. With far less friction, no-gi is a much faster and more dynamic  style of grappling.
